#GivingTuesday- LIFE ANSANM

What is #GivingTuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a world wide movement, that happens the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. People are encouraged to reflect on ways to give back! Giving back can look like many things, bringing awareness to a group doing good, donating funds to a fit charity, volunteering time in your community or even taking a trip overseas for a worthy cause. Although I have heard of this global movement in past years, I have not got involved. Well this is the year that I wanted to shine a light on and share my experience with an exceptional non-profit, Life ANSANM.

Life ANSANM, translated Life “Together”, is a Haitian non-profit focused on bringing life-change and longevity to the remote village of Cap Rouge. To start, the non-profit is planted in the mountains of Flagstaff, Arizona. I have met, spent time with and spoken to both co-founders Matt Prichard & Misty Sena. I have gotten to see the results of their labor and selfless dedication by traveling to the village of Cap Rouge two consecutive years. True joy, camaraderie, and hope has arose within the village because of their love and commitment to its people.

“We exist to do life together by partnering with the community of Cap Rouge in the needs of the church, education, job creation/community development and family care.”

High school has not been offered in the area due to the local school reaching capacity, limited space, lack of funding, etc. Ansanm has partnered with leaders in the village to break ground on a high school. Without the high school grade levels offered locally, young people in the village are forced to travel 8 hours away. This means that students have to choose to either become separated from their family or postpone continuing their education. Their partnership is crucial for the success and progression of the village students.

Additionally, Ansanm has supported the locals with the reopening of a hospital nearby. Not only has this allowed for Haitian nurses, doctors, and staff to find purpose, but it encourages individuals in the community to lead healthier lives, getting the medical attention they desperately need.

As mentioned, I have had the opportunity to interact and get to know the people of Cap Rouge on multiple occasions. On my most recent visit, our team installed rain collection systems for 20+ homes. These installations provided families relief and a way to collect drinking water. Water is hard to come by, since rain is their main source, so having these installed was a true game-changer!

I believe whole-heartedly in the work Life Ansanm is involved in. They are planting seeds for the future, preparing the people for growth, and tending to the needs of families & community at large. By partnering up with this non-profit, either by donation or by making a trip to Cap Rouge, lives are being changed forevermore ❤

“Together, join us in the pursuit to be a loud love in Cap Rouge… to bring sustainable solutions to injustices, to create jobs, to bring much needed medical care and community health initiatives, to build family in broken homes. Together we can bring hope and we can bring change.”
